"A Palace Affair" 2009 Oil on wood panel
I will write more at length at some point, but I was inspired by some of Donato Giancola's work to try a slightly aerial perspective and some interesting lighting. The 'affair' story sort of developed as I played around with poses and the 'palace' part happened during the sketch phase.

Interesting note: I painted nearly the whole thing upside down from the way I finally decided to show it. *UPDATE* Then at a show in 2010 someone asked me to turn it back!

Also interesting, I did all the planning for the painting digitally. Oddly, this is one of the first times I've done that.
