Much like the re-make of the Mer-people image I just submitted, I reworked this from an older piece from 2007:
Shall We Count His Rings? by *yveline on deviantART I would probably attack it entirely differently if I were to start from scratch, but again, I got so much useful critique on this that I had to go back and re-work it. For starters, I added almost 2 inches to the top, made the trees LEAFY, enhanced the background with a little atmospheric perspective, and woke up the woodsman, who was originally unconscious. The eye contact and slightly more active hand gestures, I think, add more life to the piece. |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. One thing I'm seeing on both my monitors is that he looks quite pink-purple - perhaps a bit too much, considering his circumstances? Maybe adding more yellow and olive tones to his skin would help him jive with the rest of the scene a bit better.
